Shanthi Sekaran is an award-winning novelist and educator based in Berkeley, California. Her novel Lucky Boy (Penguin Random House) was named a Best Book of 2017 by NPR and the San Francisco Chronicle, and has been praised by The New York Times and USA Today for its powerful storytelling and emotional depth.
A proud graduate of Rio Americano High School (Class of 1995), Shanthi teaches creative writing at California College of the Arts and is a member of the San Francisco Writers' Grotto. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Rumpus, and LitHub.
She lives in Berkeley with her husband and two children, where she continues to write, teach, and mentor emerging voices in literature.
