Honoring San Juan Unified’s Brightest

Established in 2009 by the San Juan Education Foundation in partnership with the San Juan Unified School District, the STARS Hall of Fame celebrates the remarkable accomplishments of San Juan Unified alumni who exemplify innovation, leadership, and excellence.

Recognizing that these exceptional alumni are supported by dedicated educators and a committed community, we’ve expanded our honors to also celebrate individuals who champion the mission of public education and shape its future through their contributions.

All honorees are recognized at the Foundation’s signature annual event, “An Evening with the STARS.”

Today, we proudly recognize achievements across three distinct honors:

STARS Hall of Fame

Honoring distinguished San Juan Unified alumni who have made a lasting impact in their professional fields. These individuals reflect the spirit of excellence and innovation fostered by a San Juan Unified education.

Bryan McKrell Shining STAR Award

Awarded to an individual or organization whose outstanding contributions have advanced the work of the Foundation or the District. Shining STAR recipients are champions of inspired teaching, student opportunity, and educational equity.

new in 2025: Legacy STAR Award

Recognizes a former San Juan Unified educator (certificated or classified) whose lifetime of service shaped generations of students. This honor celebrates those whose dedication, leadership, and influence have created an enduring legacy in our schools and community.
