Wayne Woo, a Bella Vista High School graduate, has dedicated more than three decades to public safety and community service. Born and raised in the Sacramento region, he began his law enforcement career in 1990 and joined the Placer County Sheriff’s Office in 1994. Over the years, he rose through the ranks—serving in investigations, special operations, corrections, and field command roles—before becoming Undersheriff in 2017 and ultimately being elected Placer County’s 29th Sheriff in 2022.

Sheriff Woo is widely respected for his tactical leadership and deep commitment to protecting the most vulnerable. He has supported youth and family wellness through his work with the Placer Sheriff's Activities League, KidsFirst, and the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Placer County. A lifelong learner, he earned his master’s in Criminal Justice Management from the University of Nevada, Reno.

Sheriff Woo lives in Newcastle with his wife. He is a proud father and grandfather who continues to lead with integrity, service, and heart.
