Timothy B. Schmit
Bassist & Vocalist, Poco & Eagles • Solo Artist
Rio Americano HS
California native Timothy Bruce Schmit grew up in Sacramento and began his music career with local bands before joining Poco in 1969 and later the Eagles in 1977—filling the bass/vocal role twice vacated by Randy Meisner. He co-wrote and sang lead on the Eagles classic “I Can’t Tell You Why” and has remained with the band through their reunion, induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (1998), and ongoing tours (most recently announced Sphere shows for 2025).
As a solo artist, Tim has released seven albums since 1984, including Day By Day (2022), featuring collaborations with Jackson Browne and Lindsey Buckingham. Over the years, he’s also been a sought-after session vocalist on iconic songs like “Africa” (Toto) and “Southern Cross” (Crosby, Stills & Nash).
A throat and neck cancer survivor (2012), Tim continues to write, record, and tour with the Eagles and his solo band. He was awarded an honorary doctorate from Berklee College of Music (2012)
