Ward Family Scholarship

Eligibility:  A graduating MVHS senior interested in attending a four-year college or university who:

1.     Has attended MVHS for four years.

2.     Has a minimum of a 4.0 GPA (Weighted).

3.     Provides examples of community service and Mesa Verde Leadership work

4.     Meets A-G requirements.

5.     Includes a Student Aid report with application.

6.     Writes an essay as to which major they wish to enter and how this scholarship will help them achieve their goal.

7.     Has an EFC of $4,000.00 or greater.

While financial need will be a consideration, it will not be a disqualifying factor in an otherwise qualified applicant. 

Selection & Scoring Criteria: The Scholarship Committee will consist of three staff members and one administrator.  No member of the committee shall be a parent of a senior student.  Other school administrators may be consulted for information regarding individual applicants; they will NOT, however, have any vote in the selection process.  MVHS will pull a transcript to verify grades and eligibility after applications are received. 

The Committee will review each application and score them based upon the following criteria:

  • The student’s ability to follow directions, have a complete application packet, and the overall organization of their submitted application. 

  • The extent to which the student participated in school-related events and programs. 

  • The extent to which the student participated in off-campus/community-related events and programs.

  • Awards and Accomplishments while at Mesa Verde. 

  • Essay will be scored based on general organization, grammar/spelling and punctuation, and most importantly, a purposeful, thoughtful response.
